Travel Trends 2016: #18 Tastebud Travel

With experience and getting acquainted with the locals being of a high priority for travellers in 2016, along with this comes food and wine tasting as the rise of the ‘foodie traveller’ continues. Sampling local cuisines, learning about the regional vineyards and being part of unique dining experiences…  that’s what on the menu for next year.

In a recent blind tasting organised by Noble Rot magazine, a Classic Cuvée from Hambledon vineyard scored a triumph over champagne, beating traditional heavyweights such as Pol Roger and Taittinger. Hambledon is just one of many vineyards throughout Hampshire making the most of the chalky soils and cool northerly climate that have been central to the success of wines from the Champagne region. As for accommodation, why not stay at the nearby cosy Stag & Huntsman in Hambledon.
